5th Grade Podcasts

Students learned about the world of podcasting by creating their own podcasts using Audacity software. After recording podcasts, students had a chance to mix in an intro soundclip. Students enjoyed exploring the different effects that could be added to make their productions sound professional such as fading out the intro music. Grade 5 Adopt An Element Project

For the Adopt An Element Project, students adopted an element from the periodic table. Students researched their element and created birth certificates as well as pictures of their element using Microsoft Paint. For the birth certificates, students listed the element name, the element nickname (symbol), weight (atomic weight), birthdate (date discovered), future career (uses of the element) and other details. For the drawings of elements, students used the number of protons, neutrons and electrons for the numbers of arms, legs and heads.
