Comic Life Projects

Comic Life is a wonderful piece of software for which there are a great many applications. So far this year, students in grades 3 and 4 have used this software for a number of projects. Students in Grade 3 created summaries for their States report research using Comic Life. Grade 4 students used Comic life to create bartering comics. Another class of 4th graders used Comic life to create comics that document the Spanish Exploration of old California.

Friendship Quilts

Friendship Quilts were created by student in Grade 1. For the project, students worked on a template created in Microsoft Word. Students went around to each computer to type in a short message for their classmates. This project gave students plenty of opportunities to practice their typing. Students enjoyed typing messages for their classmates and especially enjoyed the comments left by their classmates.

Digital Stories

Students in Grades 3-5 have created digital stories using Microsoft Photostory software. This week, students in Ms. Randi and Ms. Saldivar completed their stories. To create digital stories, students first wrote personal narratives, next they drew pictures depicting various scenes of their stories. The pictures were then scanned and imported into Photostory. Students then added narration and created their own music to go along with their stories.

I Have A Dream Projects

Students in Grade 1 created "I Have A Dream" projects. To create the projects, students drew a self-portrait using Tux Paint. Next they imported their pictures into Powerpoint and added the text of their dream. Through this project, students gained skills in opening files, computerized drawing, saving files, typing text, importing a picture into Powerpoint and more!
